These are the apps that we use in class.  Although we are no longer using iPads as our student computing platform these apps come in handy on student devices for learning outside of the classroom.  Many of these apps also have a very useful web presence.

Blooket

     Blooket is a review game site that allows for pre and formative assessments.   Students compete against each other or against themselves while reviewing or previewing course content.  Blooket has free and paid levels of service.  You can find out more HERE.

 

Kahoot

     Kahoot is an app/website that allows for pre, formative, and summative assessments.  Students can compete against each other or on their own.  Kahoot has several levels of use from free to paid services.  You can find out more HERE.

 

Podbean

     Podbean is a podcasting app/website that has a free level of service and paid levels.  I use this for my weekly podcast class updates. You can find out more HERE.

Quizlet

     Quizlet is a flashcard app/website that can be used to introduce vocabulary and details to students, along with assessing student knowledge.  We use it in class as a formative assessment.  QuizletLive allows for student competitions with class information, along with team play which creates collaboration and team building along with communication skills.  Quizlet has a free level of use and Pro level for a fee.  You can find out more HERE.

 

ReviewGameZone

     ReviewGameZone is website that allows for pre., formative, or summative assessments.  Students are given questions and upon answering correctly can them proceed to play retro style video games for a varied period of time, before being given another question.  Students compete against each other or against themselves while reviewing or previewing course content.  ReviewGameZone has free and paid levels of service.  You can find out more HERE.

 

Rocketbook

     Rocketbook is a reuseable series of notebooks, notecards, and beacons which can be easily scanned into .pdfs.  The App allows for class notes to be uploaded and shared easily with classes.  Although they sell products, there are free resources available to use and the app is free.  You can find out more HERE.

 

Screencastify

     Screencastify is a website/Chrome browser add on that allows you to record and edit videos from your laptop or PC.  There are several levels from free to paid access.  You can find out more HERE.

 

StudyStack

     StudyStack is a free app/website for Flashcards.  I use the site to introduce new vocabulary words and concepts to my classes.  You can find out more HERE.

 

TC Studio

     TC Studio is an iPad app that I use to record videos for my Daily Updates and other iPad based videos for class.  You can find out more HERE.

 

Wakelet

     Wakelet is a bookmarking website that allows you to compile and organize links and information in multiple ways.  I previously used it for building lessons and support materials for my classes, I am in the process of revising my use since the school district has moved to Schoology.  You can find out more HERE.
